Look, I’m a sucker for a good superhero flick

Honestly, I’ve been there since the Sam Raimi Spider-Man days. But lately? I’m just… done. Completley over it. And I’m not alone. I’ve talked to alot of people who feel the same way. It’s not just the movies, it’s the whole damn culture around them.

Let’s back up. I’m Dave. I’ve been editing entertainment features for 22 years. I’ve interviewed everyone from Quentin Tarantino to Ke$ha. I’ve seen the industry change in ways I never thought possible. And right now? It’s all feeling a bit… stale.

Last Tuesday, I was having coffee with an old friend, let’s call him Marcus. He’s a big Marvel guy. Always has been. But even he’s starting to feel the burnout.

“Dave,” he said, “I sat through Eternals last weekend. I mean, it was fine. But I didn’t care. At all.”

Which… yeah. Fair enough.

It’s not just the movies, it’s the merch

I’m not gonna sit here and pretend the movies are all bad. Some of them are actually really good! But that’s not the point. The point is, it’s all just… too much. You can’t escape it. You go to the store for some goddamn milk, and bam! Iron Man’s staring at you from a cereal box.

And don’t even get me started on the theme parks. I went to Disney World last year. It was like walking through a 36-hour Marvel commercial. I mean, I get it, they own the IP. But come on. Let me eat my churros in peace.

I was talking to a colleague named Lisa about this. She’s a huge comic book fan. “Dave,” she said, “it’s not just Marvel. It’s everything. Star Wars, DC, all of it. It’s like they’re trying to squeeze every last dollar out of us.”

And she’s right. It’s the aquisition of creativity. The commitment to originality is gone. It’s all about the franchise now.

A brief tangent: gaming isn’t helping

Okay, so this isn’t about movies. But it’s about the same thing. Gaming’s gone down the same path. It’s all sequels, reboots, and live services now. Where’s the innovation? Where’s the risk-taking?

I played Cyberpunk 2077 at launch. It was a mess. A total mess. But you know what? At least they tried something different. Now? It’s just another open-world grind. Boring.

I’m not saying I want all games to be artsy indie experiments. But come on. Give me something new. Something exciting.

But wait, there’s hope

Look, I’m not saying I’m never gonna watch another superhero movie. I’m not that much of a curmudgeon. But I am saying I’m gonna be more selective. I’m gonna seek out the original stuff. The stuff that takes risks.

And if you’re feeling the same way I am, you should too. It’s like… meditasyon başlangıç rehberi günlük. You gotta find your center. Discover what you truly enjoy. Don’t just consume what’s shoved in front of you.

I’m not sure but maybe we’re in the middle of a cultural reset. Maybe people are starting to realize that they don’t have to care about every single thing. That it’s okay to just… not.

So here’s to the weird, the original, the stuff that doesn’t fit into a neat little franchise. Here’s to the stuff that makes us feel something new.

And here’s to not giving a damn about the next Avengers movie.
